Membership Requirements of Mission Church, Inc. (Cleveland, Ohio)
RIGHTS OF A CHURCH MEMBER
• Take an active part in the life and activities of the church, as well as in the management of church affairs
• Make useful suggestions and take creative initiatives to improve the life and activities of the church, leadership team, ministers and ministries
• Take part in the election of, and be elected to serve in, the church, as well as represent the interests of the church within the limits of one’s granted powers
• Receive information about the life, spiritual and financial/material standing of the church, from the ministers and those responsible for ministries, with the consent of responsible ministers
• Receive spiritual, prayer, and other vital help from the church
• Receive support from the church, leaders and ministers for one’s personal instruction,
spiritual growth and gaining of practical experience for ministry in the church
• In case of any disagreement with the decisions and orders of church ministers, to
review these under the established rules of order
DUTIES OF A CHURCH MEMBER
• Each member of the church is obliged to:
• Lead one's personal life in accordance with the requirements of the Word of God
and the teachings of the “Evangelical Faith Christian Churches”: study the Bible, pray, regularly attend services, grow in the knowledge of God, follow the church's rules, and be an example to surrounding people
• Be merciful and gracious with discernment, to love and help one's neighbor, to not judge or slander others, to respect those who work in God's fields. To have nothing to do with the lusts of this world (worldly entertainment, drinking alcohol, drugs, foul language, smoking cigarettes, indecent appearance, etc.)
• Be calm, joyful, balanced and peaceful
• Be clean, tidy, economical and generous. Do not owe anything to anyone and live in
peace with all people
• Respect elders, be hospitable and friendly
• Take an active part in the life of the church:
• Contribute to the successful conducting of church services and events (weddings, evangelizations, holiday services, funerals, water baptisms, music and song services, prayer groups, etc.)
• Serve God in the church, according to the measure of one’s natural and spiritual abilities and gifts
• Carefully guard and multiply church property
• Strengthen the financial/material state of the church with voluntary donations,
offerings and tithes
• Participate in the construction, reconstruction, conversion, maintenance and
preservation of church buildings and property
• Observe the rules of conduct during services and while on church property
• Fulfill the resolutions and decisions of members meetings, leadership council and church ministers
• All conflicts between church members are resolved within the church, with the help of ministers
RESPONSIBILITY
• Church discipline may be sanctioned by the church membership meeting- restrictions, warnings and excommunications of a church member who:
• knowingly does not fulfill the duties of a church member
• wantonly and systematically does not attend church services
• does not prepare one’s self for the Communion service and does not take part in the breaking of bread for three months
• systematically does not take part in church life
• deliberately avoids financially supporting the church through voluntary donations,
offerings and tithes
• coarsely violates the Lord’s commandments and the doctrines of “Evangelical Faith
Christian Churches”
• knowingly and purposely mars one’s body with tattoos and piercings
• is a drunkard, fornicator, adulterer, gossip, slanderer, defamer, liar, proponent of
LGBTIQ ideologies, idolater, reviler, swindler, murderer, thief, lives with addictions, as well as lazy, idle, indecent, one who opposes the Gospel’s teachings
NOTE: In cases where a person converts to God, but is already living in a civil marriage, the church considers these individually and the church makes an individual decision for each such instance
